AI Rams Ram Measures

Breeders are only allowed to report births of their own rams.

If one of your ewes are covered or artificially inseminated by another breeders' ram, the Society must be informed by completing one of the following forms:

  1. An insemination certificate is issued by the owner of the ram giving permission for the ram to be used.  This must be done when the ram is being loaned or leased.

  2. A fellow associate / co-user certificate is issued by the breeder on whose name a ram is bought for a syndicate or group.  For the Society to know who is allowed to state that ram as the sire of future lambs, each member of the group must also be issued a certificate which must be sent to the Society.

  3. Laparoscopy statements must be submitted by each breeder who buys frozen semen from RAMSEM from any national approved AI ram.

All these measures are to ensure order in the industry and for the Society to know who is allowed to use or report a certain ram as the father of their lambs.  This protects all the breeders involved.
